The most fulfilling
project this season was a staging event in Annapolis, MD. Our local
church, Westgate
Chapel in Chantilly, has been partnering with a church in Annapolis to
support a missionary family serving in Malaysia.
When the time came
for them to cycle back to the states they found themselves unable to bring
their larger pieces of furniture with them. They were only able to ship a
few personal items back to Maryland after years of overseas living.
Between our two congregations we were able to accumulate enough furniture
and appliances to completely furnish a four- bedroom home. This family of
six had been living without a dishwasher, dryer or even hot water for
years. They were very excited about experiencing a few modern conveniences
for a change.
After all the
furniture had been delivered and the personal items had arrived, we went
up and spent 10 hours staging this home for living. What a joy it was to
see the donated items come together and coalesce with the artwork and
other decorative items to create a warm home where they will be able to
live comfortably. Please look at the before and after pictures to see the
results, keeping in mind that we brought absolutely nothing in our own
inventory to enhance the property.
Many thanks to Leigh
Anne, Cathy, Molly, Terry and many others who, not only helped that day,
but also worked tirelessly, over the last few months, to pull the whole
project together. It was a privilege to work with you and see the fruit of
all our labor so tangibly displayed.
